R&D, in partnership with the Council of Europe’s H.E.L.P. (Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals) Unit

is delighted to invite you to the Conference “Labour Rights in Europe: Hot topics and key developments” with the special participation of labour law experts from the Council of Europe and EU Member States.

Do EU institutions respect YOUR rights under the EU Fundamental Rights Charter?

The right to be heard, to have our affairs (e.g. appraisal exercise) handled impartially, to enjoy working conditions which respect our health, safety and dignity, to have effective judicial protection, to be given reasons for administrative decisions, to paid annual leave – those are not empty slogans! Since the entry into force of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights almost 10 years ago, the Union courts have applied the rights and principles proclaimed in it in a large number of civil service cases, bringing justice and legal security to staff (to mention just a few, see T?160/17, C?558/17, T?29/17, T?827/16, T?518/16, F?129/12, C?579/12 RX-II, F?46/11, T?476/11).

Our specialist lawyers, Sébastien Orlandi and Thomas Martin from INTAKT law firm (Belgium), will present the newest judgments in which the Fundamental Rights Charter was applied in EU civil service cases.

Do you want to learn more about the state of play of labour rights across Europe?

François Vandamme (Belgium), Vice-President of the European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR) of the Council of Europe, will present its 2018 Conclusions

Marius Bartninkas (Lithuania), labour judge and tutor of the “Labour Rights as Human Rights” course for judges and lawyers, will present interesting recent labour cases involving EU law and fundamental rights.

Do you want to learn more about the numerous high-quality online courses of the European Programme for H.uman Rights E.ducation for L.egal P.rofessionals (HELP) of the Council of Europe?

Julen Fernandez Conte (Spain), Director of the Delegation of the General Council of Spanish Bars at the European Union and member of the HELP Consultative Board, will present the Council of Europe’s HELP Programme and its e-learning platform.

Do not miss the exclusive opportunity to meet leading European experts in labour law! What is more, they would love to hear from you, too!
