Further to the meeting between staff unions and President Barroso and following the attached message from Vice-President Šefcovic, your staff unions have decided – unanimously – to suspend the strike notice filed for 8th July 2011.

Your Staff unions have taken note of the Commission’s commitments as regards the social dialogue and social actors in relation to the scope of bargaining which is no longer limited to changes in status, but open to alternatives to maintain the attractiveness of an independent, permanent and competent European public service.

As we have already promised , your staff unions from all institutions will inform and associate you directly in the debate notably through meetings organised in all institutions and all sites starting as of September.

This will allow you to contribute to the cohesion and unity of staff and to be in a position to carry out necessary collective actions to defend our public service and your interests.
