Assertiveness is defined as a positive attitude towards oneself that allows individuals to express themselves fully or to assert their rights without aggression, but with sufficient confidence to do so.
Bruno Humbeeck
Assertiveness is a way of standing your ground, asserting yourself, or even imposing yourself without being aggressive. This ability is strongly correlated with self-esteem. Self-esteem is both nourished and reinforced by assertiveness, creating a virtuous circle in which stable self-esteem enables assertiveness, and assertiveness reinforces the stability of self-esteem.
During this lecture, we will explore the various facets of assertiveness, including its application to thoughts, emotions, and opinions.
