The European Parliament gave its green light to the establishment of the new European diplomatic corps, introduced by the Treaty of Lisbon.

The Committee adopted by a large majority the RAPKAY report on Amending the Staff Regulation with a view to the EEAS. The pre-negotiated package of compromise amendments (CA 1-42) was adopted en bloc, whereas the amendments going beyond the agreement were withdrawn (AMs 39 and 40 by Mr LEHNE), thus paving the way for a deal via a plenary vote on the 20 of October.

Mr ZWIEFKA (EPP/PL) requested a separate vote one by one on the above-mentioned amendments, but his request was not supported.
