The Implications Become More Serious, But Confusion Reigns Renouveau Et Démocratie Is Organising Information Meetings The 1999-2001 annual reports raised a number of justified questions: repeated, and sometimes successful, attempts to assessment by a points system, the introduction of quotas, decreasing of "averages", and large variations in methods of comparison taking place within the restructured DGs In short, the lesson of the 1995-1997 exercise has borne no fruit, and confusion once again reigns in the conduct of the annual reports exercise. The annual report has now become a key factor in officials careers, and not only because of the decisive impact it has when going for promotion; it can also be the first step towards the underperformance procedure. In response to ever-increasing demands for information, advice and assistance on annual reports, and given the breadth of the issues when they are put in perspective, the R&D Political Secretariat is proposing to run INFORMATION MEETINGS, possibly in each Directorate-General. They will be open to any colleague who wishes to attend. To help us plan the organisation of these meetings, people interested are requested to send an attendance application either by fax (53014) or by e-mail: REP PERS OSP R&D Those who put in an application to attend will be informed personally of the times and dates of these meetings which will be arranged at very short notice.
